Have Cold Spots Always Been a Problem?
If so, we have some not-so-great news. Your heater might have been improperly sized and could be too small for your home. The sizing of your heating system is an important part of the installation process. An undersized system simply cannot heat your home effectively or efficiently.
You might need to add a space heating option or even consider a single-blower ductless split system if replacing your entire heater is out of the question. No matter what you decide on, we can help you make an educated decision and ensure that you are heating your home as efficiently as possible.
Is Just One Area Affected?
If your cold spots are actually a new problem just seem to be affecting only one room or section of your home, you might be dealing with leaky air ducts. Most homeowners use forced air heating system, like a furnace or heat pump. The issue that sometimes comes up with these systems is that their air ducts develop leaks. Once this happens, you might not even be aware of it right away, but it will start to harm your comfort and the efficiency of your heater.
Uneven heating in a consistent area of your home is a sign you need to have a pro check on your ductwork, since your air ducts are not something that can be easily accessed on your own. Sealing your ducts is the best way to resolve this issue. However, if there is severe damage then we may recommend duct repair or even replacement.
Do You Have Hot Spots in The Summer?
This, too, can be a ductwork problem. But another potential problem to consider is inadequate insulation. Insulation does the job of preventing unwanted heat transfer. So in the winter, it keeps your heat indoors, but in the summer it keeps the heat out. If you don’t have the right type of insulation installed, or if you don’t have enough of it, then you may certainly notice cold spots this time of the year and hot spots in the summer.
