Steps for a New Heater Installation

If it’s time to invest in a new heater for your home, you may be wondering what to expect during the heater installation process. Installing a new heater can take the better part of a day, especially if you are switching from one type of heating system to another.

Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about what our team does during a new heater installation. Then give us a call to schedule your heating installation in Puyallup, WA ahead of the coldest temperatures of the winter season.

Initial Assessment

Our first, and arguably the most important step, is to complete an in-home assessment ahead of your heater installation. We can assess your current heating setup and the needs that we anticipate based on the type of system you are switching to.

If you are switching to a newer version of the same kind of heater, the installation process will be simplified. However, if you are switching from gas to electric or the other way around, our team will need to add additional electrical or gas lines. When we can take a look at your existing set up, we can plan effectively for the installation and have all the tools and components that we need.

Setting Up the Workspace

On the day of the appointment, we first set up our workspace. If we need you to move around any furniture or make space for our team to work, we can talk to you about those needs ahead of time. We will place dropcloths on the floor to limit the impact on your home and keep the floors clean.

Out With the Old

Once we are set up and ready to go, it’s time to take out your old system. First, we will turn off the electricity and gas leading to your existing unit, and then we will methodically take it apart, piece by piece and disconnect everything.

With your old system out of the way, we can better assess the connections leading into your home. If we need to replace any of those connections or upgrade them based on the needs of your new heater, we can do that. Our goal is to set your new heater up for success. This can also mean upgrading or repairing your existing ductwork. If duct cleaning or resealing is needed, we’ll talk to you about this in advance so that you know it’s a part of our installation process.

In With the New

It’s finally time to install your new heater! We will take our time and get the new installation just right. After all, the more precisely that your installation is completed the better it can operate over the years to come. Mistakes that happen during installation can have lifelong impacts, and we don’t want to rush the process for that reason.

Once installation is complete, we will walk you through how to operate and care for your new unit. Even if you think you understand how to work a heater, there’s always something to learn! Plus, taking excellent care of it from day one will help it to be energy efficient for longer and enjoy a better lifespan.
